Three Reasons Women Date Younger Men

Why is that when an older woman dated a younger man, she was called a cougar but when a older man dated a younger woman, he was called lucky? Well, maybe that is finally changing. It turns out that people are realizing that love is not dependent on your birthdate and many women and men are following their heart despite the age difference. FirstLantic has some answers as to why this trend might be here to stay!

1.  It is no secret that women usually live longer than men. As women get older, they find that the pool of available men is in short supply. So, by looking beyond their own age demographic, they are able to increase their possibilities for finding love.

2.  The ticking clock is no longer a time bomb. College educated women are waiting longer to have children in the first place. And advancements such as in vitro fertilization are allowing women to have children well into their forties removing another barrier in the dating game between older women and younger men. So, while no one is advocating that women should prolong pregnancy just for the sake of it, older women now have more options if they decide they want children.

3.  As our society is aging, many partners will end up taking care of their significant other. While 10 years may not seem like a big age difference when you are younger, there can be a big gap in activity levels between a 50-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man. Since women live longer than men in general, they are on more of an even playing field in terms of health when the man is younger.

So, while each person has to find love on their own terms, it is refreshing that women now have more freedom to date who they want regardless of age. And, there are some amazing examples of lasting long-term relationships between older women and younger men. Just take a look at French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, or movie star Hugh Jackman and his enduring relationship with Deborra-Lee Furness. As the famous saying goes, “Age is a matter of feeling, not of years”.
